Italy Day 3 | European Trip 2015

For the third day as we still had the travel card to use up, we decided to go into Venice a lot later to avoid the rush of people and go in to see an authentic, Venetian sunset. We were all tired out and Venice had taken its toll on us so we wanted to go in, see the sunset and just relax rather than rushing around. We got to Venice an hour before the sun was due to set and so we decided to get a vaparetto into St Marks Square and head on up to Gelato Fantasy and get some gelato! It had great reviews on trip adviser and I got peanut butter and caffe leche. It was quite good and they had a wide range of flavors!

IMG_0111 IMG_0114 IMG_0130IMG_0134IMG_0172 IMG_0174 IMG_0178 IMG_0194 IMG_0195On the way home on the bus, we encountered an incredibly rude man on the bus who pushed his way past everyone to sit down and literally, he had zero manners and soured the trip. The bus ride was so busy we got off a few stops early and just walked the rest of the way. At least it was a nice night with a breeze so the walk home was enjoyable 🙂

Italy Day 2 | European Trip 2015

As our first venture into Italy had been so incredibly long and tiring, we decided to just slowly make our way into Venice with the intention of going shopping and I was so excited to just visit a Sephora! We visited Nike, Muji, Mango and Sephora that day, in that order and then went into a little cafe there and had a drink. We tried the Nestea Green Tea drink and it was so good and I’m really sad that they don’t get sold here in the UK!

IMG_0010 IMG_0013 IMG_0015 IMG_0016We were on our way to a popular bridge and a basilica that my sister wanted to see and my mum saw this art exhibition and we just wandered in. It was pretty cool and this was my favorite part. Also, it was here that we met an Israeli couple and they were extremely lovely and I was referred to as ‘beautiful’ when I looked like shite so honestly, I appreciated the compliment even if it was just to be nice ❤

IMG_0028IMG_0033

I was waiting whilst everyone was looking in the gift shop and just took some more pictures to remind me of Italy and it’s beauty.

IMG_0035 IMG_0039 IMG_0044

In the photo above, there was an Italian man playing the violin and he was so lovely and an extremely good player and it just made the Italian experience a little better and the best way to describe it even if it doesn’t make sense is that it honestly felt like little Italy!

IMG_0047Around this area, there was also an artist and my mum and sister went to look at the work and I didn’t bother because I was close to giving up and my feet ached and I was just done with everything. My mum said they were just looking and he was extremely rude and said something around the likes of ‘You’ll be buying something on the 5th of never’ which my mum said when she came back after a comment like that, I would never buy something from him. It’s the little things that taint a good experience.

IMG_0052 IMG_0055IMG_0072

Finally, we got to the bridge after a long walk and as a reward to end the night, we had some gelato. I had chocolate at the bottom and something like nochiollo? on the top and that was the best flavor I’ve had!

First Day in Italy | European Trip 2015

The first day in Italy was just a half day as we arrived in Mestre after 8:00pm and we just began to get used to our surroundings, where we were going to live, unpack and shower away the many hours of travelling. The first official day which was the next day, we decided to go Venice because that’s really the main reason that we chose Italy as our main holiday destination. We arrived really early and left the house around 6:40am to avoid wasting time which was truly a big mistake. We arrived in Italy before shops and cafes had opened and St Marks Square was completely empty. That was such an incredible sight to see as when you fast forward 4 hours, there are people everywhere and it’s a task just to get from one side of the square to the other.

IMG_9849 IMG_9851 IMG_9866 IMG_9872 IMG_9884 IMG_9889

This was the first collection of photos in the morning and then after that, me and my sister went on a massive goose chase trying to find an internet cafe in Venice! It was the most terrible thing, me and my sister spent around an hour and 20 minutes trying to find one! It was really hard because there was only two people that were really kind and helped us and we are so thankful for them 🙂

IMG_9950

Then, with papers we got printed out, we went to the St Marks Basilica which was very beautiful and awe inspiring but has really been used to bring the tourists in! We had pizza for lunch from a little Italian cafe and then sat down for a couple of hours and my parents bought copious amounts of ice cold water because of course, we had to go into Venice when it was completely boiling hot.

We then went on a boat trip that my sister had booked prior to the day. It was a 4 hour boat trip which took a group of people on a tour of 3 little Italian islands – Murano, Burano and Torcello. My favorite was Burano because of how cute and colorful it was – the actual blogger heaven 🙂 I didn’t walk into Torcello because I was tired and it was good because some of the people on the boat who had gone came back hot and sweaty saying that it was a waste of time because there was nothing much to see.

IMG_9972 IMG_9981 IMG_9986 IMG_9993IMG_9999

It was a quite fun day but it had a lot of waiting time which did get slightly boring. I also felt we weren’t completely prepared for the heat and had to buy so much expensive water so if you go ever go to Italy, always be prepared – I can’t stress that enough 🙂

France Part 2 | European Trip 2015

The second day, we planned to go to a botanical garden (which we couldn’t find parking near and didn’t go to in the end) as well as a cathedral and managed to visit the Franz West Auditorium because it was just right in front of us. I’m not educated on that front but the designs of the sofas were quite lovely. This all went down in Dijon.

IMG_9700 IMG_9703 IMG_9708 IMG_9720 IMG_9729 IMG_9741 IMG_9746IMG_9756IMG_9777

We then walked through the area which was all uphill and had a drink and made our way to a park with a beautiful fountain. Of course, I took some pictures and then after the rest stop, my sister (who nagivated the holiday) suggested a little lake where you could swim, take great pictures and eat at. We never made it to the busiest part, we stopped at a parking place close, ate our lunch, took pictures and then made our way to Carrefour to get dinner, water and other snacks.IMG_9796IMG_9797

We didn’t do a major lot this day, we left the house later after everyone got ready and it was all just really calm. The weather was so hot so that elevated everyone’s irritation, but, it was fine in the end especially when we were under the shade of the trees at the lake.

I enjoyed France, it was a lovely little stop with some beautiful sites too.

France Day 1| European Trip 2015

First stop on our European trip: France for just two nights. On the way to the place we would be staying at, we visited Cathedrale Notre Dame de Reims and it was beautiful. We ended up first having some *expensive* breakfast overlooking the cathedral and it was a lovely day – not too hot or cold.

IMG_9511 IMG_9517IMG_9528 IMG_9554 IMG_9558

We stayed at Chateau de Touhans and it was an incredible, isolated area with a huge ground, a swimming pool and really clean, toilet and room. There were four of us and me and my sister ended up having to share a pull out sofa bed which was not what we were expecting but the staff and cleaners were lovely and helpful! They also have an old doggy there that goes by the name of Robin and is eager to become friends and likes a good belly rub.

The staff speak English and are extremely helpful; gave us names of nearby and English speaking restaurants, addresses of the supermarkets, wifi and are generally very lovely. Their customer service alone makes me speak so highly of this place to visit as it’s just such a calming area as well.

That first day, we arrived around 2/3pm, me and my mum went swimming in the pool for an hour and tanned a LOT.  Later one, we went to a seafood restaurant right near the river called Auberge de la Marine and it was rather pricey probably as it overlooked the river and me and my sister shared poached eggs and salmon. Following the meal, we walked up to the bridge and even managed to catch the sunset which was pretty incredible. This also meant a lot of family photos, a few selfies and then we went back to the house.

IMG_9589 IMG_9591IMG_9602IMG_9647IMG_9661

That was what we did on the first day, I was going to include the second day in the same post but there was way too much and I didn’t want to crowd it all together! 🙂 There’s more coming!

Weekly Edit #4

thirset1

1. I had my 12 hour Photography exam this week and this is my final piece work that’s going to be put on display. I’m so glad I’ve finished studying it because it took so much of my effort and time and I’m going to have fun just taking pictures for events and for fun rather than studying it! I’m still glad I still studied it though because I learned A LOT!

2. Regret by Everything Everything is such a great song, I’ve been listening to it constantly! I didn’t feature it on my playlist because I wanted to put it in this edit. It’s a really catchy tune – check it out!

3. I love all the horoscope stuff that is constantly being circulated over on twitter and tumblr. This picture is way too true as I’ve stayed up to 4am, even 7am as I reblogged endless amounts of pictures just on tumblr. Sometimes I even force myself to stay up even though I’m really tired, I honestly don’t know why. P.S, I’m a Sagittarius and proud!

4. I am in love with the GOSH lip liner in Raspberry Dream. It’s an incredible, matte shade that makes me feel like I can conquer the world. When used carefully, it makes your lips look so luscious and full, I just adore it so much! There’s a blog post about it coming soon if you’d like to know more.

5. Queen Nicki and Queen B are actually goals. In the Feeling Myself video, they look so cute, I literally had heart eyes as I watched the video. As much as I love them both, Nicki is just my favorite lady ❤

6. I love this magnet I bought from an independent shop in my town. I’m quite a strong headed person when it comes to group work/work in general and I like having things going my way, especially when I know I’m right. This magnet is perfect to keep on my table whilst I work to remind me never to apologize or back down when I know, for certain, that I’m right about something!
